Terry Stevens

Terry has worked in over 45 countries for major international development agencies including UNESCO, UNWTO, World Bank, European Bank of Reconstruction as well as National, regional and local tourism organisations. His private sector clients include Waterford Wedgwood, Phillips, Coca Cola, The Buccleuch Group, The Beaulieu Estate, The Portsmouth Royal Naval Dockyard Trust, The National Trust and the National Trust for Scotland. This work has included all aspects of destination development including the preparation of tourism strategies, feasibility studies for attractions and plans for heritage interpretation.

Terry has worked across Europe and the UK in the area of outdoor recreation development as part of integrated tourism planning studies and best practice development.

Terry was a Member and Vice Chair of the Wales Tourist Board, is a Fellow of the American Leisure Academy and is a member of the European Institute for Venue Management’s delivery team. He is a recognised specialist in sport tourism and the economic impact of sports and major events, undertaking numerous studies on the contribution of sport to tourism and economic regeneration.

Terry was also part of an international team developing the concept of Olympic Spirit, a celebration of the Olympic Games, on behalf of International Development Olympic Spirit, a licensed company of the International Olympic Committee. He is a regular speaker at international conferences on sport and tourism, such as SportAccord and in June 2014, Terry was the keynote speaker at the UNWTO global summit for Ministers of Tourism on sports tourism held in Sochi. He is currently Visiting Professor at the Dundee Business School and Honorary Professor at the Universities of Swansea and Cardiff Metropolitan
